How to add a Linkedin profile to contacts without connecting with them
Here is an audio version of this post..hope that it helps..
I guess that most of us know how to add a Linkedin contact,we get asked to connect and we accept or we ask someone and then they accept. What happens when we are not connected to a person who we wish to add as a Linkedin contact?
Yesterday I was in #FiftyPreneur meeting ( anyone over Fifty who is starting a new business and needs help basically) and this question came up.
What if I find someone that is a good potential connection but I want to save them somewhere before connecting, how can I do this?
The thinking was that this person had seen someone who might be worth going back to and they wanted a quick and easy reference method to go back to them without having to write the name down on another piece of paper that would get lost amongst all the others..you know that feeling don’t you?
Linkedin Profiles and Contacts
Good question that has a very simple solution…
The easy wasy to do this on a free account is to simply add them as a Contact and then TAG them with a name that you will remember.
You can only do this with 2nd line contacts on a free account, obviously it goes without sying that you can TAG all first line contacts.
How to do this?
All very simple…you find someone that you want to save and you go to the drop down arrow where it says send an Inmail
Once you have done this you will then be able to see the Relationship Box which will allow you to TAG that person and write a few notes on why you think that they are worth saving and what they might be helpful for.
How does all this help?
In many ways if you think about it…
Firstly you now can use the Linkedin CRM system on a contact that is not yet a connection…a great new business strategy that helps you plan your campaign.
You can add quick notes, where you met them and why they might be worth connecting with, you can revise these at a later date if you need to.
Research – when you are looking at a sector you can start to build a person profile of who is in that sector without having to connect with them straight away.If you change your mind then you can delete them from that TAG group.
Activity – Look at their activity streams and see what they have been up to an build an Opportunity Map of what that sector talks about and shares. Get on the inside track before you even start to engage with potential prospects.
This research and planning all goes towards a Warm Calls strategy, make it easy to get the converstaion off to a good start by knowing more about them and their sector.
